From Bait to Plate: How Traseable Is Increasing Food Security | Kenneth Katafono

Come with us to the middle of the Pacific, where Kenneth is shaping the future of the fishing industry. Did you know that around 70% of the world’s tuna comes from the Pacific? With such high demand in the sector, it is not uncommon to see illegal fishing, forced labor and anti-sanitary practices. With Traseable, Kenneth has managed to trace the fish, from the moment of its capture until it arrives on the plate at a restaurant. With this, he expects to bring transparency and an overview of the entire supply chain, using blockchain technology to ensure data protection.

Personally experiencing the importance of the fishing sector to his home country, Fiji Islands, Kenneth co-founded his startup and it was not an easy journey. Stumbling upon different players’ mindsets that are not necessarily benefited from the transparency blockchain can bring, he shares with us how he tackled these challenges.
